In many applications, a banding system might not be strong enough to withstand the electromechanical forces that arise between conductors during a phase to phase fault. Additionally, there is a belief that a band type cleat product has the potential to damage the outer insulation of the cable when faults occur.

This paper aims to question these misunderstandings and present a more reasoned and engineered approach to selecting an appropriate cable fixing system.
