As a part of its effort to raise awareness about the importance of training young people for future economic growth, Panduit sponsors technical skill competitions across Asia.
The company was an official sponsor of the WorldSkills Information Network Cabling competition held from October 6-8, 2021, in which six participants from the Institute of Technical Education, Singapore Republic Polytechnic, and Singapore Polytechnic competed.
The competition required contestants to demonstrate essential skills for designing and installing cable systems, including installing and testing a campus distribution cabling setup involving UTP, F/UTP multipair, and fiber optic cables, planning, installing and testing a multimedia cabling project from an outdoor distribution point to indoor multimedia ports, and installing a fiber distribution enclosure.
WorldSkills International, which prepares young people for employment through skills training, organizes skills competitions around the world and seeks sponsorship from companies. Award
20 gold, 21 silver and 19 bronze medals were awarded in 18 skills area. Top competitors have the opportunity to represent Singapore at WorldSkills International 2022 in Shanghai, China.
Winner Profile
Winnie Leow, a first-year ITE College East student with electrical engineering aspirations, clinched the top prize. Winnie was inspired by her father who ran an electrical engineering company and believes women can excel in a male-dominated industry.

The 2023 WorldSkills Singapore National Competition (Phase 1) is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, March 29th to Saturday, April 1st, 2023 at the 5 Polytechnics. This highly anticipated competition will showcase 130 skilled competitors from the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), Polytechnics, and SHATEC, competing in 12 different skills areas.

WorldSkills ASEAN aims to recognize the most highly-skilled youth in Southeast Asia. This biennial competition is hosted by ASEAN member countries, with Singapore being the first-time host for the 13th edition.
The competition will feature top talents from 10 member countries competing in 22 skill areas. In addition to the skills competition, the event will include interactive activities that promote skills and promising careers related to these skills.
Panduit has successfully secured the platinum sponsorship for the upcoming WorldSkills ASEAN 2023, which will take place in July 2023.
