The lab is specifically designed and developed to support electrical engineering Nitec and Higher Nitec students.
The lab offers hands-on training in structured cabling, which forms the backbone of the entire communications infrastructure, connecting various devices and systems that is critical to the success of modern commercial buildings, data centers, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and government buildings.
Therefore, structured cabling is crucial for any organization that relies on information technology to operate efficiently and stay competitive in today's fast-paced digital world.
Students will gain an understanding of the latest trends in structured cabling and the tremendous job opportunities available in this field.
Panduit collaborates with local and regional vocational and training schools to build onsite Structured Cabling System (SCS) Labs and curriculum for hands-on skills opportunities. We are proud to partner and donate a variety of products and solutions to help facilitate technology training, student-staff project development, and future industry collaboration.
The Data Centre Lab is designed to support the Work-Study Diploma in Data Centre Infrastructure & Operation and Certificate of Competencies (CoC) for the Data Centre industry. This apprenticeship-based diploma includes 70% on-the-job training and 30% off-the-job training in theory and practical skills. Students in this program are sponsored by their employers.
The Data Centre Lab is designed to look and function like a real-life Data Centre, complete with servers, network equipment, management software, cooling and power devices, fire suppression system, and cabling structures.
The course prepares students for a professional career in the Infocomm Technology sector as Data Centre Engineers. They will be responsible for managing the company's data centre information/network systems, monitoring data centre operations and services, maintaining internal documentation, and performing independent first-level troubleshooting of recurrent issues.
